Information for those doing the 34km SATURDAY routes

Leave Venue, down the ramp, go left along the old railway line. Through the tunnel, follow the Trail for about 30minutes and note where the live line appears on your right – trains are due on this stretch at 18mins and 43minutes past (if on time!) take care or wait till it is safe or hide in the hedge… It takes about 10-15 minutes at a trot to complete this section. Continue along the route past the station, the skateboard park, people, dogs, cyclists etc – take care.

Look for the turning to the right off the Trail,  then left and right down to the FORD. Straight on up to the MAIN ROAD (A628) there will be a steward, be careful please(9k). At the A628 go right and then left on to  the bridleway after the church.

The gate is a very easy one, you can go up the steps or along side them, bear right  through the gap , go left then right along a walled lane.

Follow this lane to the end, continue straight on past some bungalows, at the T junction, go right and then bear left then left again onto Ingbirchworth Lane, follow this lane, past houses and then fields, past the last house with a very noisy dog (in a garden) the path then drops down and up. Follow this ancient route to the end at the caravan site at Ingbirchworth – go left onto another lane.

Follow this lane along through 3 good gates to  Checkpoint  1(14k). SINGLE FILE.   KEEP TO THE WALL SIDE THROUGH THESE FIELDS - PLEASE. When you join the road, go left, use the good verge, left at the junction and continue on (OK to crew along here),fine view of the windmills! until the crossroads – crossover onto a dirt road Down the hill,  but take the right turn down by the church to the A628, go right and then left (2way section), over  the MAIN ROAD (A628) and the ford.(17k) Go left and right and rejoin the Trail going RIGHT. At the next level crossing, leave the Trail and go RIGHT. At the junction go left.

Look for the left turn after the railway bridge.   Go left, then right, up the track (it is stoney in places) to the top. Left at the road,  listen out for vehicles on the bad bend. After the bend, at Hartcliff Hill  go right onto Hartcliff Hill Road. Continue along this road making use of the verge (OK to crew here).

Turn left down the bridleway , and right at the bottom. At the T-junction go right but take care as Mortimer Road  is a fast road and the verge is patchy. Take the first left into Oxspring Road, then left onto the bridleway. This bendy bridleway goes right, past some old garages and joins  Castle Lane – go left then right  into Bosville St which has no name but has a big tree at the start!(26k)

At the bend turn into Castle Close, at the end go left past CP 2. At the end of the road go left, down the side of the garages straight on to the Trail. At the Trail go RIGHT - check your train times. Continue along, through the Tunnel and back towards the Venue – if you get to the forest you have gone too far!

Go Right onto the A628 for just over 1mile, past the left turn for B6106, but take the next right (where the horses cross). Follow this road past the houses before parking. 2. Turn your vehicle and go back down the A628, go left (give way to horse crossing). Follow the A628 for just over a mile, at the bad bend crossroads, go left and up Hartcliff Hill (horse route, be careful) and bear right on to Hartcliff Hill Road. Find a safe place to park somewhere along this road.  Its about 7 or 8kms from the last crew.
